Buhari Won’t Spend Four Years Fighting Corruption – APC

BEVERLY HILLS, February 12, (THEWILL) – The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Thursday dispelled widespread concerns that the entire four years of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure is being devoted to the fight against corruption, stressing that other sectors of the economy are also receiving attention.

National Auditor of the party, Mr. George Moghalu who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja, clarified that Buhari is combining the anti-graft war with governance as issues of infrastructure, power among others were presently being addressed by the government.

According to him, “I want to disagree with such insinuation. We are not going to use the four years in fighting corruption. As you know, corruption is being fought and it is fighting back, in the same vein, other aspects of government are being addressed. Governance has not stopped in every sector because Mr. President and his government are confronting corruption frontally.

“Governance is running side by side with the fight against corruption. Infrastructure is being addressed, issues of the power sector are being addressed, agriculture, science and technology are being addressed as they go along while at the same time fighting corruption frontally because it is one of the cardinal promises made by the government during the campaign.”

The APC auditor, who went on to speak on what has been achieved by the party had been in power in the past eight months, stated that the level of ruins inherited by the party from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, could not have been fixed within the short period.

He consequently called on Nigerians to exercise more patience and pray for the Buhari’s government to succeed, stressing that: “We are very much on course. You see, when we talk about these eight months, we must also consider the level of decay, the level of wrath that the APC government is confronted with and it will be most unfair for anybody to expect that the wrath and damage to the economy, the damage to the Nigerian state, damage to infrastructure and everything will be repaired in eight months. It is not fair to the government.”

In Moghalu’s words, “We all know from what we are seeing and hearing, the quantum of damage is unimaginable. So, we need to give the government all the support, encourage government, pray for the leaders so that they will continue in the part they are following.

“If you look at it, there is a methodical commitment to actually using a set objective and that objective which I know is to implement the APC manifesto which is well written and a collection of the reaction and expectations of the people and once that is implemented, I guarantee you that Nigeria will get back on course.

“My appeal is that we should be patient. We are almost there, it can’t be worse. Let us be a little bit patient, support government in prayer and by any means we can so that government can remain on course. I am confident that with what has happened and the target they have set for themselves, I am certain that we will soon get to our destination.”
