BEVERLY HILLZ, August 22, THEWILL) – At his meeting with the nation’s security chiefs which lasted over three hours at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari directed heads of Nigerian military and the police to ensure that Nigeria remains one in accordance with his position as stated in his nationwide broadcast on Monday.

The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Abayomi Olonisakin, revealed that the issue of the alleged Secret Service of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Boko Haram terrorism, herdsmen/farmers clash, kidnappings and other security threats plaguing the country topped the agenda of the meeting held behind closed doors.

Buhari had in his nationwide broadcast said, “Nigeria’s unity is settled and not negotiable. We shall not allow irresponsible elements to start trouble and when things get bad they run away and saddle others with the responsibility of bringing back order, if necessary with their blood.”

Disclosing that Buhari was specific in his directive that security chiefs ensure that the life and property of Nigerians are protected, Olonishakin told State House correspondents that the President asked them to ensure that the directive was carried out to the letter.

“We have been meeting with Mr. President for the last three hours. We updated him on all security issues around the country, within the country and outside the country, where our troops are.

“Of course, we have just updated him because he is aware of what’s been happening. He has been receiving regular briefings from the acting president and he has also been going through the print media and electronic media to follow the happenings in the country.

“After the meeting, he has directed on some areas we should look at so as to enhance our operations in the country.

“The issues of security, every security threat, all security threats were treated one after the other ranging from terrorism to kidnapping, herdsmen/farmers clash, to IPOB issue,” he said.

The CDS went on to state that they were also directed to ensure that they secure the country and also make sure that Nigerian troops serving outside the country carry out their jobs effectively.

He said security chiefs updated Buhari on all security issues within and outside the country where the nation’s troops are, including the insurgency, Biafra agitation, kidnapping and the quit notice handed Igbos to vacate the North.

Olonishakin also revealed that at the end of the briefing, the President pointed out some areas they should look at in order to enhance their operations.
