Bring Back Our Girls Movement Furious With Presidency

BEVERLY HILLS, AUGUST 25, (THEWILL) – The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement has declared its frustration with the Presidency over the failure of rescuing the Chibok girls saying time had completely run out and a decisive action was needed to rescue the abducted girls.

The group made this known in a protest march, the second in the week, on Thursday, in Abuja, after they were stopped by security operatives from reaching the Aso Rock presidential villa to see the president.

Obiageli Ezekwesili, leader of the movement, says the military has “triumphantly” announced the killing of Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Boko Haram, on four occasions yet it hasn’t managed to rescue the abducted Chibok girls.

“Another key issue in the last 72 hours is the military’s announcement that Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, was fatally wounded during air raids,” Ezekwesili said.

“We want it on record that this is at least the fourth time the Nigerian state has triumphantly announced killing this fellow.

“Today, day 864 since the abduction of our girls, time has completely run out. It is time to take decisive action and bring them home. No more delays.

“Nigeria voted you in to serve their purpose, Mr President we are disappointed.

“Leadership is about making tough decisions and as president we can’t wait forever or for credible intelligence. How many times would he say no credible intelligence?”

Aisha Yesufu, another leader of the group, branded the President a “failure” for his inability to rescue the abducted Chibok girls saying the group could no longer sit and watch humanity debased.

“Mr President you are a failure, I dare President Muhammadu Buhari, you should stand up and behave like a man,” she said.

“We are tired of hearing no credible intelligence, I can say that the president is not doing anything.”

Also, relatives of the girls were displeased and accused the Nigerian government of abandoning their daughters to suffer in captivity saying the President neglected them after repeated unfulfilled promises.

Yakubu Enoch, father of the abducted girl identified as Dorcas Yakubu, who spoke in a recent video clip released by the insurgents, lamented that President Muhammadu Buhari had refused to listen to the parents of the abducted girls.

“The last time we came to the villa the way you even attended to us showed that you were frustrated; you were not happy with us. Are we not Nigerians or don’t you have a special interest in the girls?” Enoch asked.

“As it happened to Chibok it can happen to any place. If Buhari feels he cannot work, please let him release us. Let him get down and give it to somebody.”

Enoch Mark, father of two of the girls, said President Buhari had failed the Chibok people who voted for him in 2015 with the hope that he would ensure the return of the girls.

“Many Chibok parents voted you because we believed that you would ensure the return of our daughters. You promised us that you are a military man and that you cannot lie. You said the war will not be over until the girls are back,” Mark said.

“Now we hear shouts of victory. And you turn around and say you do not know how to get out daughters. Former President Sani Abacha told us that no country can fight war for up to 24 hours without its government knowing about it. If the president lacks intelligence to bring back the girls let him resign.

“We have men who can do the job. There is nothing that Nigeria does not have. What is stopping the president from giving the orders?”

The group was denied entry into the presidential villa on Monday, but it vowed to embark on protests to the Aso Rock every 72 hours until the government briefs them on an immediate plan to rescue the girls who were abducted by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014.
