SAN FRANCISCO, October 19, (THEWILL) – A non-governmental organisation, The Borno Alliance Group, has faulted the allegation by made by the former Commissioner of Information in the state, Inuwa Bwala, that Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State was after his life.

Dismissing the allegation as spurious in a statement issued on Sunday, the group said it was only meant to heat up the polity as it stressed that Bwala is not new to such dangerous game as he has often reverted to such scheming to get political mileage and get at his political opponent.

The statement signed by Kaumi Abubakar and Simeon Inusa, its chairman and secretary respectively, recalled that “under the Mala Kachallah administration, he (Inuwa Bwala) lied that the Secretary to the Borno State Government (SSG) in the person of Dr. Shettima Bukar Abba had hired thugs to kill him. “

It added that “Investigation by security agencies later proved that it was one of his many malicious allegations to blackmail people.”

According to the group, “Over the years, it has been the stock in trade of this journalist cum politician to level frivolous allegations against officials of Borno State Government.”

Alleging that Bwala recently masterminded a plan to implicate the former media aide to Governor Kashim Shettima, Mallam Isa Gusau, the group said: “We have uncovered a plot by a former commissioner of Information from Borno state who hails from Hawul local government to use security agencies to tarnish the image of the special adviser to Borno state Governor, Isa Umar Gusau.

The group said,”The ex-commissioner who is still bitter following his disgraceful exit from the Kashim Shettima cabinet wants to use the security agencies to frame up criminal allegations against Gusau,” adding “In this way continue his plot to discredit the administration.”

While warning Bwala to desist from his false allegations, the group said: “We wish to advise this journalist to desist from causing mischief and creating disaffection between individuals and groups in Borno State. We will not hesitate to pursue legal action against him and his collaborators should there by any attempt to undermine the progress recorded by the Kashim Shettima administration in Borno.”
