BEVERLY HILLS, February 16, (THEWILL) – Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are converging in Daura, Katsina, on Friday for a crucial meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
President Buhari had left Abuja on Thursday and departed for Kaduna before proceeding to Daura ahead of the meeting and might tell the governors whether or not he would contest the 2019 presidential elections.
THEWILL recalls that the president had last week appointed National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to reconcile aggrieved members of the party while a number of APC Governors and Ministers have started the campaign for the President’s re-election.
Although, the agenda of the meeting was not confirmed by the President’s spokesmen, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, the visit may also be connected to last week’s death of two members of his family.
According to Daily Trust, the President and the Governors were earlier scheduled to meet at the Presidential Villa in Abuja but that the meeting was rescheduled to take place in Daura since Buhari had gone there.
