BEVERLY HILLS, April 26, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari was absent at the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting for today – Wednesday, as the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is as at press time presiding over the meeting.

Cabinet members had apparently awaited the arrival of Buhari for the meeting until the State Chief of Protocols, SCOP, stepped in to the Council Chambers at 11am and whispered to the Vice President.

A security officer had stood behind the official seat of the President in anticipation of the stepping in of Buhari for the meeting.

After receiving words from the SCOP, Osinbajo kick-started the meeting with a call for the recitation of the national anthem as well as prayers by the Education and Health ministers, Malam Adamu Adamu and Prof. Isaac Adewole respectively.

As the meeting commenced, those present who were about 20 in number, were observed whispering among themselves. Journalists were later excused from the meeting which got underway.

Meanwhile, the acting Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Dr. Habiba Muda Lawal was present at the meeting.

Penultimate Wednesday, Buhari was absent at the same meeting but the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said it was nothing to worry about.

Last week, the Cabinet meeting did not hold and the Presidency attributed that to the Easter holidays.
