BEVERLY HILLS, October 21, (THEWILL) – Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State has expressed the optimism that All Progressives Congress (APC) would emerge victorious in all the six states of the Northeast during the 2015 elections.

Shettima, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Zanna Mustapha, expressed the optimism Monday in Maiduguri, the state capital, while receiving 100 bags of rice donated by the APC national leadership to persons displaced by Boko Haram insurgency in the state.

He predicted that APC would surely win the 2015 elections in Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi and Taraba in addition to Yobe and Borno states, already being controlled by the party.

Shettima therefore warned the people of the state against voting for absentee-politicians who, according to him, were never around to console them during the most trying time of Boko Haram insurgency.

“Many of these politicians who are now regrouping to launch their political ambitions ahead of 2015 election fled our state since. They could not even come around to sympathise with our people in distress. I am urging our people not to support the political ambition of such politicians,” the governor advised.

Receiving the food items from the National Welfare Officer of APC, Alhaji Dikko Umaru, the governor praised the party for the donation, assuring that the items will be delivered to the displaced persons.
Noting that the APC has continued to support Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, he maintained that the party should be commended for constantly persuading the Federal Government to show more interest in the Boko Haram crisis and plight of affected states.

While delivering the items on behalf of the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun, APC National Welfare Officer, Umaru, said the gesture should be seen as a show of support and not politically motivated.

“What is important is the heart to do it, the motive behind it and not the quantity,” he said.
