Flood Kills 2 In Katsina, Destroys Several Houses

KATSINA, Sept 12, (THEWILL) - These are not good times for residents of Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State as flood has killed two people, destroyed hundreds of houses and washed away farm lands in that area.

THEWILL learnt that so far about nine people have lost their lives in the state due to flood while many families have been rendered homeless.

It was further gathered that nine local government councils have been hit by flood since the commencement of rainy season.

Speaking while sympathizing with victims of Kankara flood disaster, Chairman of the council, Alhaji Mamman Sani promised to assist the victims to alleviate their sufferings, while enjoining victims of the flood disaster to consider it as an act of God.

Some of the victims who spoke with our correspondent said they lost everything as a result of the flood. They explained that many farmers will not harvest enough food as their farmlands were washed away by the flood.

The victims appealed to state and local government to assist them with food items and clothing.
