Ohakin Sacks Six Commissioners, 11 Aides

San Francisco, August 25, (THEWILL) – The Imo State Government today announced a major cabinet shake-up.

A statement from the office of the Secretary to the State Government of the state (SSG), Mr. Cosmas Iwu, explained that the appointees were sacked to enable them pursue various political ambitions in the 2011 elections. The Commissioners and Special Advisers have until Thursday, August 26, 2010, to handover to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries, the statement added.

The Commissioners affected include Mr. Livy Oguike (Economic Planning and Rural Development), Comfort Chukwu (Commerce and Industry), Mr. Geff Ojinaka (Land, Urban Survey and Regional Planning), Mr. Chuma Nnaji (Special Duties), Mr. Vin Udokwu (Health), and Tony Uzukwu (Youth and Sports).

Other Advisers include Mr. Steve Osuji, (Special Adviser to the Governor on Media), Ijeoma Nwafor, (Special Adviser on Administration and Protocol), Mr. Peter Ukigwe, (Special Adviser on Science and Technology), Chikwem Onuoha (Deputy Chief of Staff), Mr. Joe Ike (Special Adviser on Passages), and Project Director, Imo Job Centre, Obioma Iheduru.

The statement did not say when replacements will be named.
