Nigeria’s Oldest SAN, Bankole Oki Dies At 91
San Francisco, August 14, (THEWILL) – Chief Tanimose Abioye Bankole Oki (SAN), Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) and Commander of the Order of Niger (CON), has died at the age of 91. Family sources say he died inside his Victoria Island, Lagos residence after a brief illness. Until his death, he was the oldest Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and current Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Born on November 15, 1919, he was called to the English Bar in 1950 after he enlisted to serve in the British Royal Air Force in 1942, where he studied law. In 1973, he became the first Attorney General of Lagos State and in 1978, he was called to the Inner Bar as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The late Bankole Oki was a devoted Christian.
