Remains Of Bauchi Emir Arrives, Interred In Family Cemetery

JOS, July 25, (THEWILL) - The remains of the late emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu Jumba arrived Bauchi Sunday evening.

The corpse arrived Bauchi airport in a chartered Dana airways flight around 5:30 pm and was driven to the palace in an ambulance accompanied by Governor Isah Yuguda of Bauchi State and the late Emir’s eldest son, Bala Suleyman and his younger brother Dini Suleyman.

The corpse was then taken inside the family house and later brought to the place where the Emir holds court for the funeral prayers.

The funeral prayer started around 6: 30 pm and was led by the Chief Imam of Bauchi, Alhaji Bala Ahmed.

Thousands from within and outside the state turned up to witness the funeral.

They include; Vice President Namadi Sambo; Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Bayero Nafada; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Mahmud Yayale Ahmed; and governors of Kwara, Kano, Gombe, Adamawa, and Niger States.

The body of the late Emir was interred at the Royal cemetery; "Dajin," located within the premises of the palace.

Dajin is the traditional resting place for all past Bauchi Emirs.

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero; Emir of Zaria, Alhaji Shehu Idris; that of Lafia, Isah Mustafa Agwai; Gombe’s, Shehu Usman Abubakar and Daura, as well as the Etsu Nupe also attended the funeral service.

The late Emir died last Saturday at a hospital in Cairo Egypt after a protracted illness.
