Police Parade Over 32 Suspects, 2 Undergraduates in Delta

ASABA, July 20, (THEWILL) - The Delta State Police Command, today paraded over 32 suspects who were arrested for various scores of crimes across the state including one Kingsley Oloye and Samson Oviri, both final year students of Psychology and Industrial Chemistry at Delta State University, Abraka for burglary.
Addressing journalists in his office, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yakubu Alkali said the two undergraduates were arrested in Warri. "The police on patrol arrested them with 59 assorted wristwatches, 26 assorted necklaces, 13 bangles, 82 assorted rings, two digital cameras, eight boxers, N52, 320 and a charm," he disclosed. Mr. Alkali also disclosed that no fewer than 39 persons have been hacked to death in the state between January and July this year.
The Commissioner of police disclosed that under the period in review, 74 suspects were arrested in connection with murder cases of which 53 of them were charged to court across the state adding that within the period, 33 armed robbery cases were reported with 61 suspects nabbed and 29 of them charged to court also.
The police boss added that 22 cases of kidnapping were reported, 48 suspects arrested while 22 were also charged to court.
According to the CP, one Stella Danfinone was kidnapped at Okuotolo Orerokpe in her Peugeot 206 with Registration No AY888GWA, while Mrs. Afuenya Abaja and Elizabbeth Ngeligu were recently kidnapped by a 12 man armed gang at Umukwuata in Ukwuani local government Area of the State.
Mr. Alkali also said Mr. Malachi Odozi residing at Onicha-Ugbo was kidnapped by unknown persons on a motor bike while heading to Idumuje-Unor saying that "The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N30, 000 but before they could received the money from their victims the police were on hand to rescue the woman after which one Chukwuma Asiama (19) was arrested."
The police commissioner further disclosed that about 25 cult members were arrested in the bush in Warri, two days ago after a gun duel with the police adding that two locally made cut to size guns, three expanded cartridges, assorted coloured candles and cult regalia were found with the alleged cultists.
