DELTA: Gunmen Kill Woman In Agbor

ASABA, June 30, (THEWILL) - There was pandemonium on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Agbor, Ika North East Local Government, Delta State over the killing of a 68 year old woman who was allegedly shot dead at her Agbor private residence about 10.30 am by four unknown armed gang led by a female. The victim, Madam Stella Akhideno was said to have been trailed from the filling station where she had gone to purchase kerosene to her home located at Agbo Obi. Reports said the suspected killers immediately on arrival at her home demanded for the whereabouts of her son Mr. Gilbert Akhideno. According to a family source "She had not responded when the suspected killers shot her twice in her chest." The old woman was said to have slumped instantly while the killers escaped in their Toyota Camry. Though, the details of the tragedy were sketchy as at press time, reliable family sources said Madam Akhideno may have been brutally murdered over reported atrocities of her son. The University of Benin Political Science graduate son of the woman, Gilbert Akhinedo was reported to have masterminded the alleged killings of two notable youths in the community over alleged cult activities. Mr. Gilbert, a notable youth leader in the community was said to have taken to his heels after he was linked in the brutal murder of two friends namely Theo Oni and Ify Chinedu over an undisclosed matter. Since his disappearance two months ago his whereabouts have been unknown. Contacted on the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP, Charles Muka confirmed the incident adding that investigation into the gruesome murder had commenced. ASP Muka assured the people of the readiness of the police to without any delay bring the culprits to book and appealed for any useful information from the general public that could lead to the arrest of the unknown gunmen.
