Forum Berates Delta Govt For Establishing Four Additional Polytechnics

WARRI, DELTA April 19, (THEWILL) - The Forum for Justice and Human Rights Defense (FJHRD) has condemned the decision of Delta State government to establish four additional polytechnics to the existing three, stating that the decision was not based on sound judgment and policy articulation but politically motivated.

A statement signed by the National Coordinator of the Forum Barrister Oghenejabor Ikimi, and made available to THEWILL in Warri said the decision by the Uduaghan-led administration is occasioned by myopic politicking rather than good reasoning, noting that even the existing three state polytechnics are grossly under funded by the state government with infrastructures that are not even fit for nomadic education.

It called on the state government to rescind the decision in the interest of Deltans qualitative tertiary education, suggesting that the funds with which to kick-start the new institutions be channeled to equip the existing three with modern educational facilities.

The forum however commended the state government for the provision of 200 buses to be used for inter/intra city transportation aimed at boosting public transportation in the state.
