Jonathan, Entourage Back In Abuja

ABUJA, March 15, (THEWILL) Nigerian Acting President Goodluck Jonathan and his aides returned to Abuja this morning at about 10.32 a.m. local time.

They were received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed; National Security Adviser, Alhaji Aliyu Gusau; PDP Chairman, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor;  Ministers of Aviation; Interior; FCT and other dignitaries.

Addressing journalists at the airport, Foreign Affairs Minister, Odein Ajumogobia, who was on the trip said the visit was a huge success as it provided a lot of goodwill for the country promising that government would take advantage of the opportunity.

"It was a very successful visit and I think it is important that Nigeria engages with the world again and I think we did so in a very open and successful way. The meeting between President Obama and the Acting President was very successful and I think it is very important; there is a lot of goodwill, enormous goodwill for Nigeria outside Nigeria and I think that we are back to try and take advantage of that goodwill, for the betterment of Nigeria. You could see for yourself the interviews that were given to BBC, CNN.

"In fact, it was a very short trip but in that short trip there was so much excitement and everyone was very keen to meet the Acting President."

The Nigeria delegation was in the United States on a four-day working visit. US President Barack Obama had invited Jonathan to the World Nuclear Summit which took place in Washington DC.

Jonathan met with Obama, US Vice President Joe Biden and the Nigerian community during his visit.
