Police Smash Kidnap Gang, Arrest 6

ASABA, DELTA April 15, (THEWILL) - Delta State Police Command and its Anambra State counterpart Monday smashed a six-man gang suspected to be skilled in kidnapping.

Members of the gang were arrested severally, by the duo of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of Delta and Anambra State Police Commands.

The Delta SARS were said to have stormed the hideout of the kidnappers at Steven Anatine Street, Asaba, on tip-off, while the Anambra SARS arrested three members of the gang elsewhere.

THEWILL learnt that operatives of the Delta SARS on arriving at the hideout arrested a 19-year-old Sunday Enoch who later led the team to other hideouts behind Mammy market, Asaba, where the police also arrested one Emmanuel Nwachukwu and Kola Abiola 29 and 25 years respectively.

According to the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Charles Muka who spoke with THE WILL in Asaba yesterday, said the suspects are members of a notorious gang, whose three members are currently in the custody of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Anambra State Police Command.

The police image maker also stated that the three suspected men were members of a gang that operate in a green Mercedes Benz car with registration number CK 355 AAA, adding that they have already confessed their involvements in some kidnap cases in Asaba, with those three in the custody of Anambra SARS.

Items recovered from the suspects include the said Mercedes Benz car which is currently with Anambra Command SARS, one AK 47 Rifle, four magazines, 100 rounds of live ammunitions, a Hyundai bus with registration number, XP 408 FKJ, and some charms.

Muka revealed that they would soon be charged to court even as they are currently helping operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Asaba in their investigations.
