Senator Tawa Wada Dies

ABUJA March 31, (THEWILL) - Senator Tawa Umbi Wada representing Gombe South in the Senate is dead.

THEWILL gathered that Wada died on Wednesday at the National Hospital Abuja of a yet to be disclosed ailment.

Chairman Senate Committee on Media and Information, Senator Ayogu Eze confirmed the death of the lawmaker in a statement made available to THEWILL on Wednesday night.

Eze described late Wada as an erudite legislator who brought his training as a lawyer to bear in the Senate.

He said late Wada was an asset to the Senate as he always brought his legal expertise to bear when knotty matters requiring legal clarification were on the floor of the Senate.

Wada was until his death the Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture.

The late lawmaker arrived in the Senate in 2003 after serving four years in the House of Representatives.

A lawyer by profession, Wada attended the University of Jos where he studied Law. He was called to the bar in 1983. He was a former Assistant Director at the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Police Affairs as well as a former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Gombe State.

He has made enviable strides in property development, Agriculture, Oil and Gas.
