WARRI DELTA, March 28, (THEWILL) - The crisis rocking the ancient Orogun kingdom in Ughelli North L.G.A of Delta State that led to the purported suspension of the Okpara-uku of Orogun by a section of the kingdom is being effectively handled by Hon. Justice James Omo-Agege; (CJ, RTD, OFR) former Chief Judge of Delta state and current chairman, Orogun Council of Chiefs.

It was learnt that the Delta State Government contacted the legal luminary for the settlement, which we gathered, has been resolved amicably.

Retired Omo-Agege while speaking on the development said, "The Delta State government referred the settlement of the problem in Orogun to me as the Chairman of Orogun Council of Chiefs and directed that I should make sure that the matter is amicably settled and am already doing so, since both parties have agreed to embrace peace.

"We should all work together and bring sustainable peace to Orogun. There is no course for this acrimony. The Okpara-uku of Orogun is our clan head, who governs us through the Okpara-uku in council. That is what I think he is doing and as long as he governs us constitutionally, peace will continue to reign in Orogun," he added.

THEWILL gathered that the crisis was as a result of a political and power tussle which emanated during the community election that was held mid last year, where two prominent sons of the community, Chief Ovie Omo-Agege, a former aide of former governor James Ibori, former Secretary to Delta State Government SSG, and former Governorship aspirants in 2007 governorship election in Delta State; and Chief Andi Osawota, Secretary, Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), both sponsored candidates for the position of the community President General, and eventually the election was disrupted, but the election committee declared one of the candidates winner, and it was since then that the community never knew peace.
