San Francisco, Mar 6 (THEWILL) – A Nigerian footballer Endurance Idahor has died after collapsing during a soccer game in Khartoum on Saturday. It was a Premier League game between his club and rivals Al-Amal, at the Al-Merreikh stadium.

Sudan Football Association told Reuters that Idahor, 25, who played for Sudan's Al-Merreikh club, clashed with another player minutes after the start of the match.

The former Igbino Babes of Benin, Julius Berger Football Club of Lagos and Dolphin of Port Harcourt striker died inside the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Players, coaching staff and supporters stood in disbelief as the referee whistled the end of the match but early medical reports show that he may have died from a sudden heart attack.

Endurance was "An example of a professional and committed individual and a symbol of loyalty, we will assure that justice takes place," the club said in a statement on its website.
