San Francisco Feb 12, (THEWILL) – Controversial former attorney general and minister of justice, Michael Aondoakaa has been told to apologize publicly within seven days or face a lawsuit.

The Minister of information and communication, Dora Akunyili rejected an apology which was conveyed to her in a personal letter from Aondoakaa dated  February 9th, which was seen by THEWILL.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Akunyili was advised by her lawyers to insist that Mr. Aondoakaa tenders a public apology in form of an advertorial in The Nations newspaper, the same paper that ran the alleged libelous comments.

Her lawyers have written Mr. Aondoakaa on the development.

The former attorney general and now minister for special duties had made some comments in a newspaper interview insinuating that Akunyili was compromised while she was head of NAFDAC, a government agency that regulated pharmaceuticals and foods in Nigeria.

"Let her go confront herself with what happened in NAFDAC," he was quoted to have said.

Mr. Aondoakaa travelled abroad on Thursday night in what pundits have said is to relieve stress.

Attempts to speak to Professor Akunyili on the development were unsuccessful as an assistant who took our call said she was unavailable.
