Naval Chopper Crashes In Port Harcourt, Nigeria
San Francisco (THEWILL) – A naval helicopter on Tuesday crashed at Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Port Harcourt killing all four passengers on board.
The Agusta Reconnaissance chopper marked 06 was said to be flying from Bonny to Port Harcourt when it crashed into the swamp sometime near 1.30 p.m. WAT.
The identities of the passengers on the chopper belonging to the Nigerian Navy could not be ascertained as at the time of writing this report but sources at Nigerian Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said there were two pilots and two engineers on board when it crashed. All passengers are suspected to be officers in the Nigerian Navy.
NEMA’s Zonal Chief, Emenike Umesi and the Joint Task force (JTF) spokesman, Timothy Antigha confirmed the crash but gave no further details. A search and rescue team has been sent to the crash site.
