Abuja (THEWILL) - Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank said monday, it has found between 45 - 60 shops in Dubai, UAE, belonging to a sacked bank managing director. He said the CBN has made plans to recover the shops. The governor did not say who the former bank CEO is.

Sanusi’s revelation came during his speech at an Honourary International Investor Council (HIIC) event held at the presidential Villa in Abuja.

Addressing an audience which had Nigeria’s Vice President, Goodluck Jonathan, Finance Minister, Mansur Muktar, Nigerian and foreign business persons, the governor reiterated the regulators resolve to go after all the funds that were stolen by all the sacked bank executives. “Some of the money flew out of the country, we have accounts where some of the money went. We have the banks and the countries.” He said the CBN would ensure that “no depositor loses a penny in any Nigerian Bank.”

On Erastus Akingbola, the sacked Chief Executive of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Sanusi said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has filed charges against him and some management staff, and that they will be brought to court this week.

Akingbola sneaked out of Nigeria after he was sacked for alleged irregularities at Intercontinental Bank after the CBN audit and stress test of Nigerian banks.
