Nigeria’s SSS Burst Kidnappers In Edo, Free 7 Persons

Lagos (THEWILL) - Nigeria’s State Security Service friday, in Benin said four persons were arrested after it bursted a ring of kidnappers and freed seven hostages.

The Edo State Director of the Service, Mr. Oluode Oduneye said, the hostages were kidnapped from various parts of the country.

Those freed include Dr. Adamu Umar, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs in Niger State, Dr. Abduganiyu Abubakar of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Abuja, Abubakar Tarfa of ABS Gorminers, Ibadan, Jacob Adeniyi of Topmost Resources, Ngodoo Mbaume, Chairman NBA Ekpoma Branch plus his children and Mr. Aminu Yao of Ahmu International Mining.

The SSS recovered AK 47 riffles, $130, 000 US dollars and N10 million naira in cash.

The suspects were apprehended in Warri and Benin with the help of local police, the military and informants.

Cases of abductions in Nigeria have been rampant this year, Nigerian comic, Nkem Owoh is still being held by his abductors, who have demanded a N2 million naira ransom for his freedom. Earlier this week, Ogbonnaya Onovo, the Inspector General of Police mandated senior police officers to do more to curb the crime.
