Abuja (THEWILL) - Our investigations reveal that the Enugu Appeal Court judges expected to deliver judgement on Andy Uba’s petition, have relocated to Obudu Cattle Ranch in Calabar, Cross River State. No explanations were provided for their decision.

The Justice J. S. Ngwuta five-man Appeal Panel is expected to give a verdict tomorrow (Friday) on whether the former presidential aide’s election as governor in April 2007 is valid. Uba is asking the judges to declare him “governor-in-waiting” based on that poll.

The Supreme Court had chided the independent National Electoral Commission for organizing a governorship election when the tenure of current Governor Peter Obi had not expired. Uba was subsequently removed from office 19 days after his inauguration in Awka, Anambra State.

Sources say the judges have been under tremendous pressure from politicians and the petitioner. There have been speculations that the judges would rule in Uba’s favour.

A senior legal analyst, who wants anonymity, said there was nothing wrong with judges going away to write a judgement.
