Police Arrest Persons For Kidnapping Pa Soludo
Abuja (THEWILL) - Nigeria's Inspector General of police, Ogbonnaya Onovo, tuesday announced the arrest of persons responsible for the abduction of father of former Central Bank governor and ruling party governorship candidate in Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
Pa Soludo, 78, was abducted for more than a week, and was released on November 4, 2009 after a ransom was allegedly paid.
Ogbonnaya Onovo, speaking at a meeting with senior police officers in Abuja, said he would not reveal the identity of the arrested persons because "investigations are still going on."
Nigeria has recorded several cases of abductions. Popular actor Nkem Owoh aka Usuofia and a Permanent secretary in the Niger State youth affairs ministry, Alhaji Adamu Umar are still being held by their abductors.
