Foremost Sports Journalist, Deacon Ayo Ositelu Dead
LATE DEACON AYO OSITELU DEAD
SAN FRANCISCO, January 10, (THEWILL) – Deacon Ayo Ositelu, one of Nigeria’s foremost sports journalists, columnist and a former Editor of Sunday Punch died suddenly inside his residence on Wednesday night shortly after watching a Super Eagles friendly match and complaining to his wife that he was feeling sick, a family friend and journalist Kayode Tijani told the local media.
Ositelu, was a former Executive Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA in Lagos State and consulted for the Editorial Board of The Guardian Newspaper before his demise.
Popularly called Arena, the title of his column with the Punch newspaper, Ositelu’s last public engagement was the Senera and Venus Williams’ exhibition match at the Lagos Tennis Club in November 2012 where he was the compere.
