Cross River Elders Forum Endorse Imoke’s Return As Governor

SENATOR LIYEL IMOKE BEING HERALD BY CROSS RIVER CITIZENS AS HE ARRIVES CALABAR, FRIDAY FEBRUARY 3, 2012

CALABAR, February 04, (THEWILL) - Ahead of the February 25th Gubernatorial Election in Cross River State, the State’s Elders Forum has endorsed Senator Liyel Imoke as its sole candidate for the polls.
 
In a communiqué issued at the end of their Emergency Meeting held at the Pyramid Hotel, Calabar, the Elders who spoke through the former Military Administrator of Kwara State, Col. PAM Ogar, said the general performance of the former Governor since 2007 when he was first elected clearly defines the quality of developmental programmes across the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.
 
“The Forum reviewed the general performance of Senator Liyel Imoke of Cross River State since the assumption of office in 2007 and passed vote of implicit confidence in him based on his sterling leadership qualities manifested in his phenomenal infrastructure and people-oriented programmes,” the communiqué stated.
 
The forum called on all stakeholders on election matters to conduct free, fair and credible polls for which Cross River State usually is known for.
 
On the general insecurity in the country, the forum expressed deep concern over the continued destructive activities of the Boko Haram Sect, which has resulted in the loss of lives and properties. 
 
The forum condemned the activities of Boko Haram in their entireties and called on the Federal Government to take appropriate steps to ensure the security of lives and property of all Nigerians irrespective of where they reside.
 
The forum also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the President Goodluck Jonathan toward the actualization of the transformation agenda of his administration.
