KANO, January 18, (THEWILL) - The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed off five fuel stations in the ancient commercial city of Kano.

The Director of DPR office in Kano, Alhaji Suleiman Abubakar said on Wednesday that the sealed fuel stations were sanctioned for selling the product above the approved pump price of N97 per litre.

Alhaji Suleiman also warned that any independent petroleum marketer that indulges in sharp practices would be made to face the full weight of the law.

He said DPR would work assiduously to prevent unscrupulous petroleum marketers from taking undue advantage of motorists.

“There are some elements who still do not want to comply with the new prime regime for petrol, and we at DPR would not allow them to exploit the people of the state,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the ancient commercial city of Kano, where commercial activities are now in full swing, adjustment to the new price of N97 per liter has been slow.

Queues of vehicles are now the hallmarks of the fuel stations which have fuel while many others have not been supplied.
