KANO, January 15, (THEWILL) - Muslim youths alongside members of the Christians Association of Nigerian (CAN), Kano State chapter under aegis of Concerned Citizens of Kano State Sunday visited Churches in the ancient city of Kano, to assure Christians of their safety in the State following the attacks of Christians in some northern states by members of the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram.

The Muslim youths were led by Alhaji Bashir Is’haq while CAN’s state Chairman, Bishop Ransome Bello led the team that visited some churches during their various Sunday services.

The four churches visited are Our Lady of Fatimah Catholic Church, The Cathedral of Holy Trinity and ECWA Hausa Section, Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church and Calvary Life Church International.

Speaking at one of the churches, the leader of the Muslim youths, Alhaji Is’haq, said, “We are here to deliver a message, a message of hope, peace and solidarity that Muslims all over Kano are with Christians. That Muslims are not a source of threat to you, but a source of security.”

Alhaji Is’haq, further told the congregation that “Christians living in Kano and Nigeria in general must unite with all Muslims to fight common enemies which he said includes corruption, bad government, dishonesty, crime, insecurity, greed and injustice.”

According to him, “no doubt Muslims have wronged their Christians brothers and Christians have wronged their Muslim brothers, but this is not the time to apportion blames,” saying, “this is a time of reconciliation, a time for forgiveness , a time to look ahead , not a time for lamentation and stands together for a common good.”

He noted that Muslims must not judge Christians by the action of a wayward Christians, and neither should Christians judge Muslims by fringe elements in Islam.

However in his speech, Bishop Bello, urged Christians resident in the state not to flee saying with the assurances from their host communities, no evils would befell them.
