OPEC @ 50: NNPC Holds Workshop On Energy Reporting For Journalists

ABUJA, August 17, (THEWILL) - As part of the activities lined up for the 50th anniversary celebration of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, in Nigeria, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, is organizing a workshop for media practitioners on how to report on the energy sector. The workshop with theme: How to Report OPEC, is slated for Friday, and will have past Nigerian OPEC Governors in attendance while former OPEC Head of Public Relations and Information Department, Dr Umar Faruk, Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division of NNPC, Dr Levi Ajuonuma, and Dr M. K. Amate, General Manager, Inter-Governmental Affairs, NNPC, will serve as resource persons. The workshop which will hold at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, is one of the series of events mapped out by the OPEC Secretariat for all member countries as part of the Golden Jubilee anniversary celebration that will climax in September in Vienna, Austria.
The workshop which is aimed at creating awareness for the organization’s activities and mode of operations among citizens of member countries will be followed by a novelty football match between energy correspondents and top executives in the Nigerian oil and gas industry at the National Stadium, Abuja, on Saturday, 21st August, 2010.
