San Francisco, July 27, (THEWILL) – A Federal High Court Judge, Justice James Tosho has ordered the arrest and detention of Nigerian billionaire, Mr. Aliko Dangote, for failing to appear in court today.

Justice Tosho ruled that Mr. Dangote was in contempt of a court order having been ordered to appear before the judge to explain why he continues to parade himself as the President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

A Federal High Court Judge, Justice Lambo Akanbi had on March 12, 2010, annuled the election of Mr. Dangote as NSE President following a suit filed by some aggrieved shareholders of AP Plc.

Justice Tosho ordered the police to detain Mr. Dangote in prison till October 26, 2010, when the court will deliberate further on the matter.

Sources close to Mr. Dangote told THEWILL that the businessman is in Dubai but we were unable to reach his cell phone for comments.
