Gunmen Kidnap Another Total Employee In Port Harcourt
San Francisco, March 31, (THEWILL) - Gunmen operating in Nigeria’s main oil city, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Wednesday kidnapped an employee of the French oil giant, Total Nigeria.
Rivers State police spokeswoman Rita Inoma-Abbey said the employee was taken while he was making his way to work from his home.
"A Nigerian employee of Total was abducted by unidentified gunmen this morning on his way to work and driven in a getaway car, Abbey said.
It is not clear whether the kidnappers have made contact with Total or the family of their captive.
Hostage taking for ransom money is very common in the volatile oil rich Niger Delta, putting security agencies under pressure to curb the rapidly growing trend.
