San Francisco Jan 26, (THEWILL) – Toyota Motor Sales USA has instructed its dealers to halt sale of eight models for problems associated with accelerator pedals.

About 2.3 million vehicles will be affected by the recall, the company said in a statement.

Toyota also intends to stop the production of vehicles in some production plants in Canada, Indiana, Kentucky and Texas during the week of Feb. 1 to "assess and coordinate activities."

The vehicles recalled are:

2009-2010 RAV4, Corolla, Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalon, certain 2007-2010 Camry, 2010 Highlander, 2007-2010 Tundra and the 2008-2010 Sequoia.

Tuesday’s recall is different from an on-going recall of about 4.2 million Toyota and Lexus brands due to accelerator pedal sticking to the floor mat.

Toyota said customers can call its customer service line at 800-331-4331.
