GOVERNOR’S NEAR AIR MISHAP: NCAA BEGINS INVESTIGATION
Abuja (THEWILL) – The director-general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Dr. Harold Demuren has launched an investigation into the averted air collision of a jet carrying the Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio and an Allied Air Boeing 727 over the Port Harcourt airspace on friday.
THEWILL had reported the incident in its weekend edition.
The NCAA has requested for the air control traffic tapes from the Port Harcourt airport, which it hopes would throw more light on the incident and help in the investigation.
The Authority on Monday met with the personnel of the Nigerian Airspace management Agency (NAMA), the pilots involved, and the management of both companies.
There are reports that the Allied Air Services Boeing 727 plane has been grounded until the agency concluded its investigation.
