Hamza Al-Mustapha, Shofolahan Get Death Sentences

SAN FRANCISCO, January 30, (THEWILL) - A Lagos court has sentenced Hamza Al-Mustapha and Lahaji Lateef shofolahan to death by hanging for the death of Kudirat Abiola.

Hamza was former Chief Security Officer, CSO, to late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, while Shofolahan was a protocol officer in the MKO Abiola campaign organization.

A Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere presided over by Justice Mojisala Dada convicted the duo for the murder of wife of late Chief Moshood Abiola, Kudirat, who was assassinated in Lagos during the Abacha administration in the heat of the actualisation of the June 12, 1993 Presidential mandate of Chief Abiola.

The two men were arraigned on two counts – Conspiracy to murder and murder – They were both convicted accordingly.

They are expected to appeal the ruling.
